A couple of boaters became unexpected heroes the other day when they noticed a blue heron hanging, stuck on a tree along the shoreline.
This magnificent bird was tragically tangled in the branches above the water, hanging tied up by its beak and one foot. It was clear the heron had been trapped for a long time, as it was exhausted and at the end of its strength.
As the boaters approached the helpless bird, they quickly realized that this was no accidental entanglement. Someone had deliberately tied up the heron, leaving it to suffer under the hot sun.
This heartbreaking realization spurred the boaters into action. Determined to save the bird, they began the challenging task of cutting it free from the branches.

Gently but swiftly, they managed to pick up the heron again and carefully snip away the remaining string.
Unfortunately, they found that the line had embedded itself into the bird’s beak, suggesting that it had been there for a while, likely preventing the heron from eating properly.

Innocent creatures, like this heron, suffer because of our actions. Luckily, a group of good people stumbled upon this heron and gave their best efforts to help it out.
