As Jane Harper was taking a leisurely stroll with her furry companions along the river, something terrible caught her attention.

The piercing cries of a distressed dog echoed through the air, causing Jane to quickly look towards the riverbank.

Without a moment’s hesitation, she sprinted towards the source of the distress. To her horror, she discovered a Belgian Shepherd desperately struggling in the water.

However, upon closer examination, Jane made an even more shocking discovery – the dog was tied to a hefty rock inside a duffel bag, deliberately trapped by its leash!

She knew it wasn’t just a regular thing where a dog accidentally fell into the river. Someone purposely tried to hurt the poor dog by trying to drown it. So, Jane understood she had to do something quickly.

With a sudden burst of energy and determination, she was able to rescue the dog from the water. However, she didn’t stop there.

She hurriedly took the Belgian Shepherd, who was later identified as Bella, to the nearby animal doctor.

The vet team worked hard to ensure Bella was okay and could recover from the terrible experience. Luckily, all their hard work paid off, and Bella slowly started to get better.

In the meantime, the authorities weren’t just sitting around. Jane informed them about what happened, so the police started looking into it.

But here’s the interesting part – Bella had a tiny chip put inside her in 2010, and because of that, the police could figure out who her owner was.

This was a really important clue that led them straight to a woman named Charlene Latham, who was 31 years old.

They didn’t waste any time and quickly arrested Latham on suspicion of committing animal cruelty offenses. Luckily, it seems that justice was served quickly.

Later on, when they went to court, Latham admitted that she tried to drown Bella. Meanwhile, Bella was making progress at the vet hospital.

She wasn’t very strong, but she began to show positive signs as time went on. Everyone was optimistic about her complete recovery.

This brave dog still has a long way to go, but thanks to Jane’s care and the dedication of the vet team and police, she has a shot at a brighter future, away from cruelty.
