Woman Finds A Cage Of Flooded Hermit Crabs With Touching Note And Decides To Help

Life is full of surprises, and sometimes the most amazing stories start from the simplest situations. For Ariel Poirier, it all began with a regular Facebook post that led her to something unbelievable.

While casually scrolling through her feed, she came across a sad story. A neighbor had found a small cage with hermit crabs left all alone.

After seeing those little crabs, stuck in a tiny, dirty space and exposed to all kinds of weather, Ariel felt a strong urge to help.

She knew she had to do something and without wasting any time, Ariel hurried to the location. As she shared in an interview:

“I immediately went to see if anyone had picked them up yet. I love animals and our natural environment – it hurts my heart to see any pet tossed away (no matter how big or small).”

When she got there, what she saw was both upsetting and angering. The cage was in terrible shape, and the poor hermit crabs, covered in bugs, were clearly in distress.

The night before, there had been a big storm, and when Ariel got closer, she noticed that the area was completely underwater.

However, what really caught her attention was a sign on the cage that said: “Free to a loving home. 4 hermit crabs.”

From that moment on, Ariel was determined to make a change, so she jumped right in. She collected the hermit crabs and took them to a safe place. She knew the road to recovery would be tough, but she didn’t let that stop her.

After arriving home, she contacted the Land Hermit Crab Owners Society to get advice from people who knew a lot about caring for these cute creatures.

Luckily, with their help, Ariel turned her home into a safe haven for the rescued crabs. The little hermit crabs, named Peach, Krebs, Pierre, and Juniper, started to flourish in their new environment.

These little creatures needed a lot of attention because their shells were too small and their living conditions weren’t great.

Ariel carefully researched what they needed, setting up a perfect home and giving them healthy food.

And let me tell you, the change was amazing! The once sleepy hermit crabs began to explore their new space with excitement. They even grew new, safer shells that fit them better. Ariel mentioned:

“They immediately started to explore and had a little pool party.”

Each crab showed its own personality. Peach, the bravest, was the first to check out every corner of their new home.

Krebs, who was shy, liked to stay hidden. Pierre loved to explore and was always looking for something new. And as for Juniper, the youngest, was full of energy and never stopped moving.

Ariel loved spending time with her new pets! She watched them closely, learned what they liked, and made sure their home was just right for them. The hermit crabs, in return, grew to trust her and showed their affection.

As the weeks passed and turned into months, the weak little hermit crabs grew strong and cheerful.

Now, Ariel’s house transformed into a safe haven, where these little fighters could live their best lives.
