Magnolia, a sweet and loving dog, was tragically mistreated and abused. Someone not only tied her up but also left her to starve behind Magnolia Cemetery in Texas, barking and crying for help. It’s hard to imagine how anyone could be so cruel.
What kind of person could do such a thing? It breaks my heart to think of this poor pup, scared and tied up all alone, desperately hoping someone would hear her cries for help.
The staff at Beaumont Animal Care heard her desperate cries and rushed outside to check it out. Following the sound, they searched the woods behind the cemetery and were devastated to find Magnolia tied to a tree.
Rachel, their veterinary technician and kennel supervisor, shared in an interview:
“Staff here at the shelter were so heartbroken finding her tied to a tree with no shelter or water. Magnolia’s barks had become raspy from crying for help all night.”
Rescuing Magnolia was challenging because she was terrified and growling at her rescuers. The staff understood her fear and distrust, knowing she had been abandoned in the dark woods without food or water. As they shared on Facebook:
“Although Magnolia was glad to finally have been heard, she was scared and it was a challenge getting her untied.”
They spoke to her gently, reassuring her that they were there to help. Gradually, Magnolia calmed down realizing they meant no harm. Her rescuers managed to untie her and took her to the shelter.
At the shelter, the staff worked with Magnolia slowly and patiently. They showered her with love and care, hoping to earn her trust and heal her completely.
Before long, Magnolia began to open up. Her true personality started to shine through, and she became friendly making many new friends at the shelter.
Now, Magnolia loves greeting everyone who passes by her kennel and enjoys spending time with people and other animals.
She’s especially close to her kennel mate, and they have a blast playing together in the yard. While she waits for her forever home, Magnolia is thriving at the shelter.
I’m confident that this sweet dog will soon find a loving family who will adore her and give her all the happiness she deserves.
