Heartless pet owners often neglect their pets and abandon them when they lose interest or no longer wish to care for them.
Sadly, those pets are left to fend for themselves, facing tragic fates. The same fate followed this potbellied pig called Anna until Happy Tails Farm Sanctuary stepped in to save the day.
Upon arriving at the property, the rescuers discovered Anna in a horrible condition as a result of being locked inside a barn alone for almost 11 years.
Her hooves were so overgrown that she couldn’t even walk. Every time she tried, she would cry out in pain. It was just too painful to watch an animal in such a condition. The rescuers were shocked the pig was even alive.
Years of neglect led to the development of many health issues. Upon arriving at the sanctuary, Anna underwent a thorough examination and received the professional help she desperately needed.
She was diagnosed with arthritis, infected eyes, and severe skin problems. Fortunately, she was finally in good hands, ready for a second chance at life.
Happy Tails Farm Sanctuary didn’t want to miss anything. They took Anna under their care and even made sure her former owners faced justice.
With a little bit of luck, Anna’s owners were caught and charged with abandonment, neglect, and animal cruelty, while she was getting ready for a new start in life.
The first step was to treat Anna’s hooves. The rescuers took her to the vet to fix her hooves so she could finally walk again. She also received a warm bath, including necessary medications.
Once able to move freely, Anna’s true personality began to emerge, showing significant relief and progress.
Initially, she didn’t like to be petted, but over time, she warmed up to her rescuers as though she was expressing gratitude for saving her life.
Finally, after 11 long years of being locked up in a barn alone, Anna is one happy and healthy pig who can’t stop wagging her tail.
