Minneapolis Rideshare Driver Rescues Abandoned Pet Snake Found In Car

Picture this – you finish your rideshare shift and hop into your car, only to discover a snake as your unexpected passenger!

That’s exactly what happened to a rideshare driver in Minneapolis recently. But don’t worry, the snake was safely rescued thanks to some quick-thinking officers and the help of Minneapolis Animal Care and Control.

The whole surprising incident was shared by the Minneapolis Police Department on Facebook, where they posted a video of officers holding the snake.

The driver found the snake in their car near central Minneapolis the night before. Thankfully, the snake, the officers, the driver, and all the passengers were safe.

While the MPD initially identified the reptile as a boa constrictor, Tony Schendel from Minneapolis Animal Care and Control later confirmed it was actually a ball python.

Ball pythons are often kept as pets because they are friendly and not poisonous. They usually weigh 3 to 5 pounds and are known for being very relaxed.

Currently, the snake is being taken care of by Minneapolis Animal Care and Control. Later, a python will probably be given to an animal rescue group if its owner doesn’t show up.

However, it’s still unknown why the snake was abandoned. This situation may seem like it’s from a movie, but it shows how important it is to be a responsible pet owner.

Snakes, just like any other pet, need specific care and attention. So, if you’re thinking about getting a scaly friend, make sure to do your research to make sure you can give them a safe and healthy home.
