6 Mind-Blowing Deep Sea Creatures You Won’t Believe Actually Exist

The ocean will forever remain a mystery to us humans. With its great depths and scary deep sea predators, it never stops to amaze us with its secrets!

The other day I stumbled upon some deep sea creatures that left me speechless, some because of their looks and others because of what they do… So let’s jump straight to the first mysterious creature!

The Gulper Eel And It’s Huge Secret

When you first look at the gulper eel you’re stunned simply by its appearance. This unique creature has a long and swift tail that helps it navigate through the ocean.

However, the gulper eel is best known for its huge mouth. This eel is capable of expanding its mouth like a soap bubble, helping it catch prey twice its size! Isn’t that scary?

Known as Pram bugs, this sea specimen lives 3000 feet deep in the ocean and at first glance, they look like innocent little beings… or do they?

Female Pram bugs prey upon another deep sea creature called salps. She uses her claws to consume the inside of a salp and then uses their gelatinous shells to lay her eggs inside!

The Flower Hat Jellyfish Is The Oceans Fashionista

When you look at the Flower hat jellyfish the initial thought that might cross your mind is ‘How adorable’! However, the only adorable thing about this jellyfish is her name.

With her colorful tentacles on top of her head, it almost looks like they’re dancing when she swims. But these tentacles are meant to lure little fish in, who have no idea just how dangerous this colorful jellyfish actually is!

The next creature has a scary name but is by far the nicest creature on our list. Vampire Squid earned its name by its unique appearance, with shining red eyes and what looks like a cape around its tiny body.

However, this tiny creature is swimming peacefully through the ocean, eating only algae and the ocean’s debris. This vampire is not a threat to anyone!

This species of Sunfish earned its name for a good reason. Only recently discovered by a marine biology student, this creature managed to stay hidden from human sight for years.

The Hoodwinker Sunfish is pretty large and prefers colder waters, but poses no threat to us humans!

The Adorable Yet Feisty Archerfish

When you first look at the Archerfish you simply can’t deny it’s cuteness. With its black and white scales and yellow fins, it looks like any other adorable tropical fish. But don’t let its cuteness fool you. These little fish take in water through their gills and shoot it out to knock down their prey! Can you believe that? Better think twice before adding them to your aquarium tank!
