A Lynx Cat Saved From Cage Life Finally Gets A Chance To Be A Mom

Sharing is caring!

Even today, despite technological advancements and progress in many areas, countless animals are still caged on farms or in backyards. Sadly, the reason is clear – people want their fur or skin and often take their babies away too.

That’s exactly what happened to a beautiful lynx named Koshka. She spent most of her adult life locked up in a small metal cage. Whenever she had babies, they were taken from her and sold as luxury pets.

Koshka never got the chance to be a real mom or to experience freedom. But her life was about to change.

Two compassionate men, Gordon Buchanan and Dr. Victor Lukarevski, made it their mission to save lynx cats. For the first time, they would attempt to rehabilitate them and help them live freely in their natural habitat.

Dr. Lukarevski rescued Koshka from her cage and released her into the wild, giving her the chance to keep her two new kittens and explore their new world together.

Gordon Buchanan was doubtful at first, as he shared with BBC:

“When I went to see them, I thought there’s no way that you could get those animals back to health and rehabilitate them.”

But Dr. Lukarevski believed their wild instincts would return, and he was right! Soon, the progress was clear.

However, the kittens were still too young, so helping them develop their natural instincts, like hunting, was crucial. Teaching Koshka to care for her babies was even more important.

Although she had motherly instincts, this was her first real chance to care for her young, as she had never been able to do so before.

Humans remained a significant threat to Koshka and her kittens, so they had to learn to avoid people and stay safe.

Soon, on a rainy day, Koshka passed her ‘final test.’ Gordon and Dr. Luka watched as she found shelter for her babies and kept them safe. Despite having her young taken from her before, Koshka’s motherly instincts remained strong.

Even though many challenges are still ahead of Koshka, there’s no doubt she’ll face them bravely. I hope she and her kittens enjoy a long, happy, and safe life!
