I recently came across a jaw-dropping video of a little girl playing with her 16-foot pythons! Their deep bond was so captivating that I simply had to share this remarkable story with you.
Emi first met Sunny and Cher when she was just two years old, barely able to walk on her own. At the time, the snakes were only two-foot-long bootlaces, comfortably curling up in Emi’s tiny hands.
Over the years, Sunny and Cher have grown into substantial serpents, now too heavy for Emi to lift. Describing the nature of their unusual pets, Emi’s dad shared in a YouTube video:
“Cher is a gentle Diva. She’s very particular. She likes her routine and she likes to make sure she’s got fresh water. Sunny is normally really laidback. He’s actually quite a really soppy snake.”
As a dedicated father and snake enthusiast, Emi’s dad ensured Sunny and Cher were accustomed to humans before introducing them to Emi.
He spent countless hours every day acclimating them to human touch and teaching them to trust, explaining:
“As a parent, I had to make sure that both snakes were tame and sociable to be to be held. I spent every day multiple times a day getting them used to human interaction.”
Teaching Emi how to interact with the snakes was just as important. Her dad was eager for her to share his passion and learn to respect these majestic creatures.
He taught her the importance of being soft and careful – no sudden movements or rough handling, just gentle strokes, as he shared:
“I needed to make sure my daughter genuinely knew how to be gentle. As soon as she understood what she needed to do – no grabbing, no poking, just being gentle and respectful. That’s all I needed from her, was to behave how I behave.”
Under her dad’s vigilant supervision, Emi’s bond with Sunny and Cher grew stronger. She knew the rules well: she wasn’t allowed to be alone with them, and feeding duties were reserved for when she was older, ensuring her safety above all.
Despite these precautions, Emi enjoyed the company of her scaly friends, finding both comfort and fascination in their presence.
For Emi, who is now seven, Sunny and Cher are more than pets – they are her gateway to a world of wonder. She hosts tea parties for them, complete with tiny cups and saucers set out near them.
To her dad, these moments are priceless. His admiration for snakes goes beyond their physical beauty. He considers them symbols of resilience and a refuge from the noise and chaos of the world outside, as he shares:
“I think snakes are just amazing, beautiful, and fascinating animals. I can retreat to my snake room and get away from all the horrible stuff that’s going on in the world outside.”
Emi’s dad believes his daughter is fortunate to have such a bond with these majestic creatures, something not many kids get to experience. He sees it as a great opportunity for her to learn respect for animals, adding:
“My daughter is very lucky to be given this sort of experience under the circumstances. She gets to experience the true giant of the species and she has a very rare and unique relationship with them.”
Emi continues to nurture her bond with her giant reptiles. Each tea party they share is a celebration of love and mutual respect. Through this special connection, she gains both companionship and a deeper understanding of the animal world.
