Panda The Horse Escapes Every Day Just To Visit His Friends At The Dementia Care Facility

Sharing is caring!

There’s a unique kind of magic that happens when animals and humans come together. It’s a connection that goes beyond words, creating a special understanding and affection.

And sometimes, this magic leads to surprising friendships, like the one between Panda, a palomino paint horse, and the people living in a local dementia care unit.

Panda, it seems, has a mind of her own. While she’s being trained to be a riding horse, her real joy comes from playing around, especially with her human pals at the dementia unit.

Now, before you imagine Panda bursting in with a cheeky look (horses don’t really grin, but you get the picture!), let’s backtrack a bit.

Panda’s owner, Maija Vance, had a lovely idea. She thought it would be wonderful for the residents at the dementia unit to spend time with a gentle horse like Panda.

So, she brought her for a visit, and it turned out to be a huge success. The residents immediately fell in love with Panda.

They petted her soft coat, fed her carrots (which might explain why Panda loves visiting!), and simply enjoyed having her around. It was a moment filled with happiness and connection for everyone.

But, here’s where it gets fun. Panda seems to have a great memory (not quite like an elephant, but pretty impressive for a horse!).

She clearly enjoyed her time there and wanted to come back – again and again. In a funny TikTok video, Maija shares that Panda has escaped twice, heading straight for the dementia unit.

You can almost hear the mix of frustration and laughter in Maija’s voice as she apologizes for her wandering horse and tries to bring Panda back home.

But honestly, who can blame Panda? Those carrots must be super tasty, and the company really warmed her big horse heart.

Even people commenting on the video had a blast. Some called Panda a “therapy horse in disguise,” while others joked that she liked hanging out with her “friends” at the unit more than going to riding lessons.

Horses are known for their amazing memories and can remember people and places they’ve had good times with.

Maybe Panda really feels a connection with the residents, or maybe it’s just the carrots and affection she loves.

Either way, Panda’s little adventures remind us that happiness can come from the most surprising places.

So, the next time you hear about a horse that runs away, don’t think of a wild chase. Instead, imagine a horse with a big heart, eager to visit her special pals.

And who are we to judge who they want to hang out with? After all, who wouldn’t want a big, fluffy friend to make their day better?
