Brittany Brown never thought she would spend as much money as she did on Freedom, a horse who was living his life isolated in a 12×12 small stall.
Freedom, a gorgeous black and white horse spent his life entertaining humans. He was part of weddings, children’s birthday parties, and many horseback riding trips.
However, once he became old and unable to earn money for his previous owners, he was left all alone without any social interaction.
This is when Brittany heard about his story. She is a well-known horse rescuer, who specializes in senior horses.
Freedom’s story brought instant tears to her eyes and she knew she had to do everything in her power to rescue him. As she said in her video:
“He did a lot for humans. I just feel like he deserves people to do things for him and not expect anything from him ‘cause he already gave so much.”
Although many advised Brittany not to rescue Freedom since he was old and had various injuries that she would have to take care of for the rest of his life, Brittany didn’t care.
She was determined to provide him with the best life possible and she did just that. Brittany spent a little over $2500 and over 5 months to rescue Freedom and call him her own.
She did everything in her power so Freedom would be able to live a happy life. What is Freedom up to today, you might be wondering? The answer is – nothing!
He spends his days running around with other horses, playing in mud and grass, and going for walks with Brittany.
She refers to him as a horse puppy, since he lives the life of a happy barn dog! As Brittany shared:
“He’s got a real easy life. There’s really no expectations, we just hang out.”
The bond these two share is truly unique. Freedom enjoys going for walks with Brittany and laying his head in her lap while they rest in the barn.
Brittany never experienced this with other rescue horses, and I believe this is Freedom’s way of saying ‘thank you for saving me’.
