Imagine walking through a calm forest and suddenly finding a bunch of tiny puppies snuggled up against a tree. That’s exactly what happened to a couple who were enjoying a nice stroll in Missouri.
Once they realized what was happening, they were surprised to see the little puppies and their tired mom.
But right away, they knew they had to step in and help. So, the couple gently picked up the puppies and their mother and took them to Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL).
After they got there, the team at SRSL was impressed by how healthy and chubby the puppies were, especially for their age.
However, their mother was in bad shape, being very underfed and thirsty. It was obvious she had given everything to take care of her little ones.
The staff at SRSL gave the mama dog lots of love and created a warm, quiet place for her to rest and heal, while also making sure she had enough food and water to help her get her strength back.
Meanwhile, the puppies received medical care and were watched closely. Later they were named after famous golfers, which was a fun connection to a golf tournament fundraiser happening on the same day they were rescued.
A few days later, a caring foster mom named Megan Percell heard of these puppies and took the little family into her home.
With her support and affection, the puppies started to grow stronger and stronger each day. Mary, Queen of Scots, the mama dog, was also getting better and putting on weight.
The SRSL team feels hopeful that Mary and her puppies will soon find loving families. They are also very thankful to Megan for taking them in and giving them the care they desperately need.
