1. They Are Siberia’s Funkiest Dogs

Introducing you to Siberia’s finest doggo, the one and only, – Samoyed!

The Sammies we know and love today have been bred by semi-nomadic people known as the Samoyede thousands of years ago.

These sturdy dogs were originally used for hunting reindeer, but eventually, the OG breeders switched their focus to herding the animals.

2. Their Name Changed

In 1889, British zoologist Ernest Kilburn-Scott was living it up with the Samoyede people in Siberia when he stumbled upon a furry little pooch that stole his heart.

He brought the pup back home with him and soon became obsessed with the breed, importing more of them to England.

Back in the day, the semi-nomadic tribe called these dogs “bjelkiers”, which is a term that translates to “white dog” in English.

Ernest however, was the one who named the breed the “Samoyed”, and it quickly became a hit with the fancy British crowd.

3. Smiling Faces 24/7

Ah, the iconic Samoyed smile! Did you know that these dogs actually have a genetic predisposition for their perpetually cheerful expression? It’s true!

Samoyeds have a slight upward curve to their lips and a unique muscular structure that makes them look like they’re always grinning from ear to ear.

Paw lovers call it the “Sammy Smile.” But wait, there is a scientific explanation behind their signature smile!

In the freezing temperatures of Siberia, excessive drooling can quickly lead to the development of icy drool that can cause discomfort and even frostbite

But thanks to the unique muscular structure of their faces, Samoyeds are able to keep their mouths closed more easily, which prevents drool from forming in the first place. Other than that, their smile really serves the purpose of making their hoomans happy!

So, if you’re feeling down, spending time with Samoyed’s happy face might just be contagious! I mean, just look at this happy lil’ dude!

4. Too Fancy For The Usual Dog Scent

If you catch a whiff of a Samoyed, you’ll likely detect notes of lavender, vanilla, and a hint of caviar (because why not?). Well, in some cases maybe.

The reason why Sammies don’t smell as your average next-door-pup is because of their luscious thick coat and low levels of dander.

5. Their Fur Game Is Strong

Oh, don’t make me get started on this one! Of course these cloud-like pups have insanely thick, double-layered coats that defy all odds!

I’m talking thick, fluffy coats that would put even the most fashionable humans to shame. Not to mention that it comes in all sorts of shades of…mostly white!

But their fur game is more than just impressive – it’s a statement. These canines know that a good fur day can make all the difference, and they’re not afraid to show off their luscious locks.

6. They Have Blowout Seasons
