Dog Returned To Shelter Again Spends Another 6 Months Waiting For A Forever Home

Sharing is caring!

“Don’t keep this pretty girl waiting! She is ready to leave the shelter!”

This black beauty is a two-year-old Labrador mix who is patiently waiting for her forever family. She has spent six long months at the Walker County Animal Shelter (WCAS) in Georgia.

Hollow, named after the Hidden Hollow community where she was found as a stray, was adopted once but sadly returned because she didn’t get along with the family’s cats.

Since then, she’s been back at the shelter, hoping that the right person will come along.

“This sweet girl was at the shelter for quite a while, adopted and returned and she’s been with us for 6 months this go around 😔 She was returns because she wasn’t good with their cats. She has been fine with dogs she’s met at the shelter.”

This beauty is spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped, and weighs a healthy 60 pounds. The staff at the shelter describe her as a “sweet, energetic” girl who just needs a loving home. As WCAS shared on Facebook:

“There is a nationwide animal welfare and overpopulation crisis happening across the United States. More animals are being surrendered, abandoned, or coming in as strays than we have seen in many, many years. Unfortunately, with the current economic situation, many people are surrendering pets or avoiding adoption altogether.”

Sadly, this overcrowding means more pets are being euthanized. Last year, approximately 850,000 animals were euthanized in shelters, marking a heartbreaking 15% increase compared to the previous year.

Shelters like WCAS are doing everything they can to find homes for dogs like Hollow, but space and resources are limited. Despite the challenges, the shelter staff remain hopeful:

“Hollow would do great in an active home with people who have the patience and time to make sure she gets ample exercise and attention. Our hope is that she gets adopted into a forever home where she’ll receive the love and care she deserves.”

The shelter recently shared her story on its Facebook page, and the community has been rooting for her.

“She has the sweetest eyes,” commented Tara, while another user, Petty, said, “She has those love eyes!” Salena added, “Oh! Beautiful baby,” echoing the hopes of many that Hollow will soon find her perfect match.
