What was meant to be a special birthday celebration took a humorous turn when a $100 birthday cake mysteriously disappeared before the party even began.
Esme McGhee had purchased the cake as a surprise for her partner, but the real surprise came when she discovered that most of it had already been devoured – and the guilty party wasn’t hard to identify.
Esme’s dog, Kobe, a playful Poochon (a mix of Bichon Frise and a Poodle), was the culprit behind the cake’s disappearance.
Usually known for running around with local children, Kobe found his way to the cake and helped himself to a large portion.
“Kobe, my poochon, came into my life nearly three years ago… He’s a playful, friendly dog who loves spending time outdoors, especially running around the field and playing with the local children.”
As Esme shared in an interview:
“We had no idea Kobe would manage to get to it. In time though, they would eventually piece together the chain of events that led to the cake being eaten. He slowly moved the box closer to the edge of the surface until it fell. He ended up eating 3/4 of the cake!”
Esme’s TikTok post captured the scene after, showing Kobe with an unmistakable blue mouth – a result of the cake’s blue icing.
Despite his best efforts to avoid eye contact, Kobe’s guilt was written all over his face. The blue food dye stuck around for a bit too, taking three washes to fully come off his fur.
Though the cake was beyond saving, Esme and her partner couldn’t help but laugh at the situation.
Instead of replacing the cake, they took it as a valuable lesson: Kobe can actually reach much higher surfaces than they realized!
