Jubilee, a gorgeous and active shepherd dog was always extremely happy and active. Ever since Natalie welcomed Jubilee into her home, she brought joy to the entire family.
However, things changed pretty quickly. Jubilee went from a happy and active dog to becoming sad and lethargic.
Natalie couldn’t quite figure out what had happened overnight, but she noticed a discharge from Jubilee’s eyes. The poor thing couldn’t even look at the light.
She immediately rushed her to the vet, where she received some medication to help with what they thought was an infection.
At first, it looked like the medication did help her, but that lasted just a couple of days. As Natalie said in a video:
“Unfortunately, her symptoms started coming back, and we could tell that she just was not happy.”
Watching their beloved dog suffer was extremely scary for Natalie and her family, since the vet had no answers at first.
After numerous tests, the vets were finally able to diagnose her. Sweet Jubilee was battling an autoimmune disease that made her immune system turn against her own body.
The first thing that got affected was her sight, and the vets explained to Natalie that eventually, Jubilee would become blind.
However, they also told her for Jubilee to live pain-free it would be best to surgically remove her eyes. Natalie was worried at first, but it turned out to be the best thing to do. As she mentioned:
“But after, her spirits began to change. Her smile returned, her wiggly demeanor came back. She was so excited to be with us.”
At first, Jubilee had to learn how to navigate the world without her sight. She relied on her mom Natalie and a new form of trust was built between them.
Jubilee relied on her smell and this is how she fell in love with flowers! Every time they would go for a walk, Natalie would see Jubilee spending hours just sniffing all the flowers she could find.
However, months after her diagnosis something started to change in Jubilee’s appearance. The entire family was completely shocked.
Her fur color started to change! All of the spots that were black or brown turned white. Nevertheless, she was still an absolute beauty!
Sweet Jubilee completely relies on her family now, but she’s still as happy as before her diagnosis. I’m so happy Jubilee has a supportive family that would do anything to make her feel better! Make sure to follow her over on Instagram, where her mom posts regular updates on Jubilee!
