Abandoned Dog Left In A Pile Of Tires Rescued By Kind Texas Truckers

When truck drivers arrived at a sand pit in Crosby, Texas, to pick up material, they were heartbroken to find a lonely dog who had been abandoned.

She sat there, staring off into the distance, as if expecting someone to return. The drivers believed she was waiting for the owners who had left her behind, unaware that they had already let her down.

Wanting to help, the drivers reached out to Megan, whose family owns the sand pit. Sadly, this wasn’t the first time an animal had been left there. Over the years, many dogs had been abandoned in the same spot, leading Megan to step in and help whenever she could.

Megan made sure the pup, later named Dutchie, had food every day. The truck drivers also looked after her, offering meals and kindness.

“We always send our dump truck drivers and operators with bags of dog food to feed the dogs that are down there and I always ask them to take pictures and video,” Megan said in a video.

Determined to find Dutchie a safe place, she shared the footage on her Facebook page, hoping someone would foster her. While she continued to check in on the pup, the truck drivers sent daily updates and tried to gain her trust.

Dutchie was cautious, often hiding and sleeping on a pile of tires near the pit, her dark fur blending in with her surroundings.

Soon, Lola’s Lucky Day, an organization that helps homeless dogs in Houston and Dallas, found a foster family willing to take Dutchie in.

When Megan heard the news, she was overjoyed. Without hesitation, she left work and rushed to the sand pit to bring Dutchie to safety.

“It was a relief. It was like… party. Like, I’m so glad. Whenever I know that there is a solution I never want to leave them down any second longer,” she said.

As she searched the area, Megan spotted a little black head peeking out from the tires. Dutchie had heard her coming and looked up, recognizing the friendly voice.

“And then she came out of the tires and she was excited to see me. She was looking for food but she was excited and friendly. She came straight up to me,” Megan recalled.

Dutchie allowed Megan to place a leash around her neck, trusting her completely. As Megan pet her, the pup rolled onto her back, asking for belly rubs with hopeful eyes.

That night, Dutchie stayed at Megan’s home. It was her first taste of warmth and comfort in a long time.

“When I put her in the backyard to run around and it was like grass and I knew that she felt different. She knew that was more of a homelike experience versus where she had been, where it was just fending for herself. She could be herself,” Megan said.

Dutchie’s New Beginning

The next day, Megan drove Dutchie to her foster parents, Kaitlin and Lauren.

At first, Dutchie was unsure of her new surroundings. While she longed for love, she was still hesitant and a little scared. A trip to the vet revealed that she had heartworm, an injured ankle, and hip issues. Thankfully, she received the treatment she needed and soon began to feel better.

Her foster parents patiently helped her adjust, showering her with love and allowing her to move at her own pace.

Over time, Dutchie learned to trust again. She started to snuggle with her foster family, and her once-worried expression was replaced by a big, happy smile.

She had finally left her past behind and was ready for a brand-new chapter filled with love, warmth, and the security she had always deserved.
