California Shelter Staff Brought To Tears When Tiny Kitten Arrives Completely Covered In Paint

Tiny Moo’s arrival at Wonky Hearts Animal Haven in California was anything but ordinary.
The team had seen their fair share of abandoned cats, but Moo was a little shock of color, literally.
He was completely covered in paint, from his tiny paws to the tip of his tail. It was hard not to gasp when they first laid eyes on him.

Megan Mannarelli-Martin, one of the rescuers at Wonky Hearts, shared in a YouTube video:
“His skin was peeling, and it was crusting off of him. He was skin and bones, malnourished and frail. He looked scrappy like a little teddy bear.”
But even in the middle of his messy, painful situation, Moo’s spirit was unstoppable. The moment he spotted people, he just couldn’t contain himself.

He ran straight to them, weaving between legs and pressing his little face into hands for kisses, purring like he’d been waiting his whole life for someone to notice him.
You could tell right away he had a heart full of love, even if the world hadn’t been kind to him yet. The rescue shared on Moo’s adoption profile:
“Everyone was in tears when I arrived, but I was just SO excited to see people that I popped right out of the back and ran to give anyone and everyone kisses.”

The rescuers had an unsettling suspicion about where he had come from. Megan explained that kittens like Moo are sometimes used in dog-fighting rings as bait.
They dye or paint them bright colors so they can easily track them, which is heartbreaking to think about. Megan shared:
“I’ve had to hold back my emotions a lot.”

Getting the paint out was a marathon. They tried every safe method they could think of: soaks, gentle oils, scrubbing, and after three days, they were ready to admit defeat.
But they didn’t give up. Fifteen baths later, along with a haircut, Moo was finally free of paint.
And that’s when his real personality began to shine.

The transformation was amazing. Gone was the frail, covered-in-paint kitten. In his place was a tiny explosion of happiness, full of energy and affection, as Megan shared:
“He was just the happiest, full-of-life kitten. As energetic as he was, he was just as cuddly and affectionate. He is a snuggle bug.”
This playful little whirlwind was rolling into laps and demanding pets like he’d finally found the world he was meant to live in.

Now ten months old, Moo is ready to find his forever home. Anyone who brings him into their life will be getting a little bundle of pure love, a living teddy bear who knows exactly how to give affection.
For anyone in need of unconditional love, Moo is ready and waiting, and his rescuers can’t wait to see all the joy he’s about to spread.
And after everything he’s been through, this tiny painted kitten finally deserves the happiest, coziest life.
