This is one of the oddest couples I’ve ever seen, yet their heartwarming bond is out of this world.
Meet Modjadji and Daisy, a baby zebra and a baby rhino whose lives turned around when they met.
The two friends share a special bond and never leave each other’s side. However, before they met, their lives were in chaos…
Wild animal rescues found Modjadji the zebra abandoned after a severe thunderstorm when she was just a week old. They knew they had to act fast if they wanted her to survive.
Without hesitation, the rescuers brought Modjadji to their sanctuary and began treating her. She was extremely weak and sad, barely standing on her own.
Thankfully, with proper care, her condition began to improve, but she remained withdrawn, desperately needing some company.
While Modjadji was recovering, the rescuers received a call about a few hours-old rhino whose mom had been poached.
The baby was so young and fragile that she couldn’t stand on her own and needed to be bottle-fed. The rescuers affectionately named her Daisy and provided her with professional care.
As Daisy began exploring her new surroundings, it became clear she was also in desperate need of a friend.
Realizing Daisy was in the same state as Modjadji, the rescuers came up with an excellent idea. They brought Daisy in a pen, and Modjadji just didn’t want to leave until she met her.
The rescuers were beyond excited about introducing the two babies to each other, saying in an interview:
“This friendship could really help them both.”
After only a few hours, the rescuers realized that introducing these two animals to each other was the best decision ever.
Modjadji and Daisy instantly formed a special bond and their personalities finally began to shine. Modjadji became a very enthusiastic zebra, while Daisy faithfully followed her steps.
This unusual duo bonded so much that they refused to leave each other’s side, simply wanting to do everything together. However, there is one thing they don’t enjoy together, no matter how much Modjadji begs for it, and it’s a mud bath.
Daisy regularly receives mud baths, while Modjadji desperately asks for the same treatment. But zebras don’t need mud baths, so Modjadji gets brushed instead.
Separating these two friends is simply a mission impossible, making them one of the oddest couple of friends. One of the rescuers added:
“Maybe they don’t realize that one of them is a baby zebra, and the other one is a baby rhino. It’s so incredible to see this unique bond forming between them.”
What matters the most is that Modjadji and Daisy actually helped each other heal and found comfort next to each other.
One day, they will be able to run free, meet other animals of their species, and have their own families. But until then, I’m sure that together, they’ll thrive and cherish every moment they have.
