Have you ever witnessed something so heartbreaking that it makes you feel really sad inside? Well, that’s exactly what the volunteers at Wild Florida Rescue experienced when they got a call about a deer by the roadside.
Just imagine a tiny fawn, only a few days old, snuggled up next to its mother, who had sadly passed away. Really, it’s a sight that could make anyone feel sorrowful.
One day, the deer family had been wandering close to the road when a car hit the mother. Instead of stopping to help, the driver just drove off, leaving the little fawn all by itself.
The poor baby, scared and confused, wouldn’t leave its mother’s side, gently nudging her body, hoping she would wake up.
Luckily, soon enough, someone noticed this sad situation and called for help. So, the rescuers from Wild Florida Rescue rushed to the scene.
Once they arrived, they were upset about the driver’s heartless actions – how could someone just leave an animal like that? But their main focus was on the little fawn.
After inspection, they noticed the fawn was dehydrated, having been there alone and frightened for over 24 hours. If help hadn’t come, the fawn might have faced the same fate as its mother.
But fortunately, this story has a hopeful twist. The rescuers acted quickly, gently picking up the fawn and taking it to the Creature Safe Place Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.
There, the fawn received the care it needed, including food, water, and warmth. And with the right care and love, it got stronger every day.
The wonderful people at the center even found another deer to be a “mother” to the fawn, helping it learn and grow.
Now, the plan is for the fawn to stay at the center until it gets better and is strong enough to take care of itself. After that, it will be set free back into the wild, which is where it truly belongs.
If the person who spotted the fawn hadn’t called for help, this little creature might not have survived. So, if you ever see an animal in trouble, make sure to contact wildlife experts.
Also, I want to make sure to mention how important wildlife rehabilitation centers actually are. These wonderful places give injured and orphaned animals a safe place to heal and a chance to live again.
So, here’s to happy endings and the incredible people who help make them possible!
