If you are a big fan of the Poodle breed, and you might have more breeds that are up there on your list, but have a hard time deciding on which one to get, we have good news for you. Mixed breed dogs are here for your rescue!
We prepared a long list of poodle mixes that you can choose from, and we described them in detail so that you, the future dog owner, can be more prepared.
While going through this list, you can see that a lot of popular dogs that are purebred got crossbreed with either Toy Poodles or the standard Poodle, which resulted in the most beautiful, interesting, and intelligent dogs.
1. Maltese X Toy Poodle
The Maltipoo is considered to be the most famous poodle mix. This is a small lap dog with a big personality. Even though their looks are a thing that will attract you to this dog, it is their personality that will make you love them.
Temper
They have a lot of energy, but don’t need a lot of exercise. 10 to 15 minutes a day will be just fine.
What they need is a lot of personal time as they are big cuddlers. They are affectionate dogs, and they reciprocate their love and attention that you give them by double.
They tend to show a love for barking, which makes them good guard dogs. They can adapt to any environment. Other pets, or small or big children are no problem for this pooch. When it comes to them, ˝the more, the merrier˝ is the way to go.
Coat
Poodles are hypoallergenic, which give Maltipoos a low-shedding coat. Their coat varies in color and texture. The most common color is white, but they tend to vary even within the same litter – silver and cream being other options.
They have a curly coat that they inherited from the Poodle, but sometimes, it may come a bit straighter, or slightly wavy, taken from the Maltese parent.
Grooming isn’t that complicated. You should brush your dog every two days, so its coat stays nice, healthy, and clean. A groomer’s appointment can be made once or twice a year.
You can give them a little trim around the eyes, mouth, and paws at home if you feel comfortable. If not, a trim of the head should be appointed every month or two.
Health
Some of the health concerns that this crossbreed might have are Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease, Progressive Retinal Atrophy, Patellar Luxation, Epilepsy, and White Dog Shaker Syndrome.
This doesn’t mean that your Maltipoo will get any of these health problems. This is just to keep you informed. Their lifespan is 10 to 13 years.
Size
They can grow to be 20 to 35.5 cm (8 to 14 inches), depending on whether the Poodle parent is a toy or a miniature. They can weigh anywhere from 2.5 to 9.5 kg (5 to 20 pounds).
2. Golden retriever X Poodle
This beautiful designer dog is also known as the Groodle. Since it is mixed with two amazing breeds, you can’t expect anything less from the Goldendoodle.
Temper
This breed is good for people with allergies. They aren’t completely hypoallergenic, but they don’t shed, and are more suitable for people with allergies than most of the other breeds.
It is a newer breed, but it has gained popularity pretty quickly. They make amazing family dogs. We don’t recommend keeping them in a smaller apartment or a kennel if you decide on the big version of this mixed breed.
They are very friendly and loyal dogs. They quickly bond with their humans, and strive for affection. Because of this, they make amazing therapy, service, and guide dogs. Being guard dogs is not very much in their resume since they have a friendly nature.
They are intelligent dogs that don’t need a lot in order to learn new things. You can even teach them to sniff peanuts in some foods for people with peanut allergies.
Coat
Their coat varies in color and texture. The texture varies in curly, wavy, or straight, but the most common is wavy. Colors can be anything from white, cream, black, red, tan, or tawny, and anywhere in between.
Grooming isn’t that demanding, but brushing their coat a couple of times a week is recommended. Depending on your preferences, grooming appointments can be done once every three months or even every six months. Trimming around the eyes should be done once a month.
Health
Goldendoodles tend to have a long and healthy life. When buying your Goldendoodle from a respectable breeder, you should get these health clearances: the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) for hip dysplasia, hypothyroidism, elbow dysplasia, Von Willebrand’s disease – from the Auburn University for thrombophilia – and the Canine Eye Registry Foundation (CERF) certifying that their eyes are normal.
Their lifespan is anywhere from 10 to 15 years.
Size
Goldendoodles come in three sizes: miniature, medium, and large.
Miniature dogs tend to grow until they reach 33 to 50 cm (13 to 20 inches), and weigh anywhere from 6.8 to 16 kg (15 to 35 pounds).
Medium dogs grow 43 to 50 cm in height (17 to 20 inches), and weigh 18 to 22.6 kg (40 to 50 pounds).
Large dogs grow anywhere from 50 to 61 cm (20 to 24 inches), and weigh 22.6 to 41 kg (50 to 90 pounds).
3. Labrador Retriever X Poodle
Labradoodles are a very popular breed, which unfortunately turned out not to be a good thing. First, there are some inconsistencies when it comes to their guide-dog personality. Because of their popularity, there are a lot of breeders who care only about the money, and don’t consider preserving the dog’s bloodline.
Temper
Labradoodles were bred to be amazing guide dogs. They are friendly dogs that get along with anyone who crosses their path. Be a bit more cautious when they are around small children because they have a lot of energy and might try to play with them and accidentally hurt them.
Since they are eager to please, and intelligent, they are very easy to train. They have moments where they curl up next to you, and all of a sudden, they get the urge to run around.
Another unfortunate thing is that a lot of these hybrid dogs end up in kennels, so before buying one, try exploring kennels around you for a possible Labradoodle in need of a home. Puppy mills are also common when it comes to this breed, so try to find a respectable breeder.
Coat
Their coat comes in three types of texture: wool coat, hair coat, and fleece coat. Besides the texture, the color also varies. They can be anywhere from caramel, chalk, red, black, white, cafe, and silver chocolate, to having a parti-colored coat.
You should brush their coat once or twice a week. If you want to maintain their coat, you can make an appointment with the groomer every six to eight weeks. A bath shouldn’t be often, but they tend to get into a pond, so a bath or two every couple of weeks is okay.
Health
They are a generally healthy breed, but they do come with some health issues that you might want to be aware of. Some of those issues are hip and elbow dysplasia, ear infections, allergies, epilepsy, diabetes mellitus, etc.
Their lifespan is somewhere between 11 and 15 years.
Size
The size of a miniature Labradoodle is between 35.5 to 40.6 cm (14 to 16 inches), and they weigh 6.8 to 11.3 kg (15 to 20 pounds).
The medium Labradoodle is around 45.7 to 50 cm high (18 to 20 inches), and weighs 13.6 to 20.5 kg (30 to 45 pounds).
The average Labradoodle grows to be 55 to 70 cm (22 to 24 inches), and weighs 22.6 to 29.5 kg (50 to 65 pounds).
4. Bernese Mountain Dog X Poodle
This is a fairly new breed, and every dog varies. Some dogs take more on their Poodle parent, while others take more on their Bernese Mountain Dog parent.
Temper
All in all, they are very intelligent and goofy dogs. They love playtime, especially when they are accompanied with other animals and humans.
The Bernedoodle has a gentle nature, so playing with smaller kids comes naturally to them. They are adaptable dogs. We recommend the small Bernedoodle if you are living in an apartment; the bigger ones might need more space.
They tend to be stubborn as puppies, so training might be a bit difficult. But, this trait goes away quickly as they grow.
Coat
The coat can be wavy and curly, and it is hypoallergenic, while the straight coat tends to shed a bit more, and isn’t suitable for people with dog allergies.
They have a thick coat that protects them from the cold, but can also fairly protect them from the summer months.
They can come in different colors and color combinations. Some of the colors are black, brown, white, and even tri-color, which is a famous trait of the Bernese Mountain Dog.
When it comes to grooming, the curlier the coat, the harder maintaining the coat gets. Since the curly coat sheds less, it needs more frequent brushing; even daily.
Health
They are generally a healthy breed. As with every breed, some health issues might occur with this breed also. Some of these issues are elbow and hip dysplasia, allergies, eye problems, and skin issues.
Their lifespan is from 9 to 14 years.
Size
The tiny Bernedoodle grows to be 30.5 to 43 cm (12 to 17 inches), and weighs 4.4 to 10.8 kg (17 to 24 pounds).
The Miniature Bernedoodle grows 45.7 to 56 cm in height (18 to 22 inches), and weighs 11.3 to 22.2 kg (25 to 49 pounds).
The Standard Bernedoodle grows to be 58 to 73 cm (23 to 29 inches), and weighs 31.8 to 41 kg (70 to 90 pounds).

The Cockapoo is an adorable dog, and considering that its parents are cutie pies, such as the Cocker Spaniel and the Poodle, this shouldn’t be a surprise.
Temper
These dogs are known for being happy and great companion dogs. They get along with everyone, and love snuggling with their owner. But, they also have their active side that needs to be nourished by giving them an hour a day of playtime.
Their intelligence is impeccable, and they are a joy when it comes to training and learning new tricks. They tend to suffer from separation anxiety if left alone for a long time.

The miniature Cockapoo grows to be around 33 cm (13 inches), and weighs around 7.7 kg (17 pounds).
The standard or max Cockapoo grows to be 38 cm (15 inches), and weighs 8.6 kg (19 pounds).
6. Schnauzer X Poodle
We sure hope you love both the Schnauzer and the Poodle because this dog inherited all the best qualities from both breeds.
Temper
This dog is the happiest when it plays and hangs out with its family. They are very good at agility, and they love all sports in general. They can also make an amazing guide dog. They are very loyal, and they have a guarding instinct, which makes them good guard dogs.
Sometimes, they enjoy digging and barking. They are intelligent and learn quickly, so we are sure you can teach them very soon not to dig around your yard.

Temper
The Yorkiepoo can adapt to any environment, and because of their size, they are amazing dogs for apartments. They are small, confident dogs, just like their Yorkie parents, and they enjoy being around their owner, which makes them amazing companion dogs.
They have a lot of energy, but also burn it off quite quickly, so they don’t need a lot of exercise. Even though they are intelligent, they don’t really like training time, but they do love napping in your lap. Don’t worry – with consistent training, they will learn everything you want them to.

To Sum It Up
We have seen that there are many Poodle mixes out there. They have beautiful, cute, and just-to-die-for looks, but their temper is what makes them grow and stay in your heart. They have a lot of good qualities that Poodles and other parent breeds have. How can you decide on just one?!
One suggestion we have is this: before buying a Poodle mix, try searching through your local shelters to see if there are any to adopt. Unfortunately, some of them end up in kennels, so you could be the one to give them their forever home.
