One ordinary day, a couple of passersby heard frightening cries from help echoing through the forest during their walk.
Intrigued, they went to investigate and discovered a wild fox caught in a wire trap.
The poor fox, crying in pain, had her right hind leg caught in an uncomfortable position. She tried desperately to free herself but only ended up hurting herself more.
Heartbroken by the sight, the kind people immediately contacted Star Network Rescue for help.
The rescuers hastily made their way to the reported location, shocked by the distressing scene that unfolded before them.
The fox, now exhausted from hours of struggling to break free, lay beside a tree, her injured leg still raised.
Her gaze was dull as if all hope had evaporated from her tired body.
Upon seeing the rescuers, she leaped to her feet in a panic, mistaking them for another threat rather than her only chance at survival.
Initially, she fought back fiercely, biting the catch pole and refusing to be subdued. After several tense minutes, the rescuers managed to catch her safely.
They sedated her to keep her calm, then carefully untangled the wire from her leg, wrapped her paws and jaws in soft cloths, and transported her to the vet clinic for treatment.
All that struggling to break free resulted in the fox severely injuring her right hind leg, which ultimately led to the loss of her paw.
At the clinic, the vet thoroughly examined her, administered pain relief medication, and cleaned her wound.
Afterward, the rescuers transported her to the shelter, where they placed her in a separate kennel away from other animals.
The rescuers continued to care for the injured fox, prioritizing her health above all else.
Thanks to their devoted attention, she soon recovered; her wounds healed, and she felt much better.
All that remained was to release her back into the wild where she belonged. She was limping – but at least she was free!
