Kimberly Rose and her friend were longboarding along Venice Beach, California when suddenly they heard faint cries coming from nearby.
The disturbing sound resembled the meows of a distressed kitten who was definitely in trouble.
Curious, Kimberly started following the sound, which led her to a palm tree where she discovered a tiny kitten stuck in its branches.
The poor kitty was clearly in distress, desperately waiting for someone to rescue her. Determined to help, Kimberly reached up, attempting to catch her.
However, she soon discovered that the kitten wasn’t merely stuck in the palm tree – she was tied to it with a short leash, completely unable to move!
Such cruelly broke Kimberly’s heart; she couldn’t believe how anyone could do something so heartless.
Recounting the whole event in an interview, Kimberly shared:
“She was very desperate for someone to notice her. She was meowing in distress and looking in our direction. She seemed like she wanted to approach us. I thought she was being timid at first, but then we realized she was actually tied there and couldn’t move.”
The sight of the poor feline spurred Kimberly into action. She and her friend quickly joined forces and in no time, the kitten was free.
Initially, the kitten seemed frightened of her saviors and looked for a chance to bolt.
However, she soon calmed down, realizing she was in good hands with people who meant her no harm.
Once Kimberly put her inside her jacket, the kitten blissfully drifted into Dreamland. As Kimberly put it:
“She seemed scared but relieved to have help. It was very cold, so I put her in my jacket once I saw she was comfortable with us. She fell asleep right away.”
Since it was too late for the vet, Kimberly decided to take the kitten home, stopping by her local 7-Eleven to buy some cat food and materials for an improvised litter box.
At home, Kimberly named her new feline friend Venice, after the place where she found her. The two then got ready for bed, falling asleep right next to each other.
By the time the morning came, Kimberly was certain of one thing: Venice was here to stay!
Deciding to keep Venice was a natural decision for Kimberly. The two bonded instantly, becoming fast friends and finding comfort in each other’s company. As Kimberly put it:
“I fell in love with her quite quickly. I really didn’t realize how much I needed her in my life. She was the missing piece!”
Today, sweet Venice enjoys a wonderful life with Kimberly, grateful for that fateful day when she crossed paths with someone so kind.
Kimberly even adopted a little brother for Venice, named Chito, knowing she would enjoy the companionship of another feline.
This story is a great reminder that love only multiplies when we’re ready to selflessly share it.
