Artist Saves An Abandoned Goldfish In A Rough Shape And His Transformation Will Shock You

Lacey R. Scott, an amazing sculpture artist, was enjoying her weekend while strolling through the stores in the mall.

Like every animal lover, she went into the local pet store to visit all the adorable animals there. However, this is when her eyes met with someone in desperate need of help.

A black fish, with beautiful fins, was lying on the bottom of his tank. The poor thing was not swimming around like all the other fish. He was just lying there, almost as if he was awaiting his final moments.

Lacey asked the store manager about the fish and that’s when they told her the saddest thing she’s ever heard.

This was a 10-year-old goldfish that was surrendered to the pet store by his previous owners after they decided they didn’t need their pond anymore.

The poor thing was so depressed in the store environment that he stopped swimming around. Lacey went home but she couldn’t stop thinking about the poor fish.

She knew if she left him there, he wouldn’t survive for too long. So the next day, Lacey went back to the pet store.

She bought him for only 10$ and the two went home together. That’s when Lacey noticed the poor thing had lesions on his belly from lying on the bottom of the tank for so long.

Naming him Monstro, she made sure to get him a huge aquarium tank. To her surprise, Monstro started instantly swimming around!

It seemed like he was thriving in his new environment. Just days after Monstro came to his new home, something amazing happened.

Little Monstro started changing his color, with golden spots shining through his black scales.

Over the next few weeks, Monstro was completely covered in golden scales, absolutely thriving in his new home. That’s when Lacey decided to rescue another goldfish, Monstro’s girlfriend Cleo. As Lacey said in her video:

“It’s really precious, because Monstro took to her immediately and they’re always together.”

It’s amazing how Monstro changed in his new home, going from a sad little fish to a colorful beauty.

At the age of 15, little Monstro crossed the rainbow bridge, leaving thousands of his followers on social media heartbroken.

Thankfully, the last years of his life were filled with love from Lacey and her family. I’m so grateful she rescued him and gave him the life he deserved.

It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that my sweet Monstro crossed over the rainbow bridge shortly before Christmas. When I brought him home in the spring of 2019 I had no idea what a wild ride he was about to take me on. I truthfully didn’t think he’d last the week, but he was a fighter and not only did he pull through, but he thrived for almost five more years! While I don’t know his exact age, based on what I was told I assume it was somewhere between 14-15, pushing the max lifespan for a fancy goldfish. Which was something that was becoming increasingly obvious over the last few months as I noticed him slow down in activity. Thankfully, he passed peacefully, falling asleep with his head in his favorite pot. I’m not going to lie, losing him has been extra hard, especially after losing my senior cat in the same year. And I’ve had so much anxiety about telling the internet about his passing. I know to many he was “just a fish” but he was still a pet I cared very deeply for. The outpouring of love and support I’ve had for him over the years has been incredible and I am so honored that I was able to have him in my life. And in the spring, when the ground thaws, I plan to burry him next Cleo, safe beneath the shade of my favorite tree.
