Two Senior Dogs Found Tied To A Fence With A Note That Will Break Your Heart

A day in the life of animal rescuers is never boring, but this one truly broke their hearts.

The staff members at New Jersey’s Bloomfield Animal Shelter (BAS) were preparing for a typical shift. But, when they pulled up to the shelter, they were greeted by a heart-wrenching sight.

The rescuers found two senior dogs with the saddest eyes, tied to the fence, waiting for someone to pick them up. However, what truly tugged at the rescuers’ heartstrings was the note left beside the dogs.

The rescuers broke down in tears as they read the note, which said:

“Hi, I am sorry, but my babies deserve to live their golden years happy and in a good, warm home for the winter. I can’t take care of them while living on the street. Our home was foreclosed on, putting us out in the street. Please take care of them and don’t kill them.”

As they continued reading, they were introduced to the two dogs standing in front of them:

“Hi, we are Shadow (black baby) and Tiger (brown brindle baby), and we are littermate brothers. We are pedigree Presa Canario. We are not aggressive. We don’t fight. We get along with other dogs and some cats. We love people, we love kids. Please keep us together if you can. Thank you.”

I can’t judge the person who did this. At least they left the dogs somewhere where they would be cared for. From the note, it was clear the person loved their pets.

On the other hand, the shelter was not okay with that because they were already full and didn’t have space for the dogs.

According to the note, the dogs were well-socialized and extremely friendly, but the shelter couldn’t verify the information. BAS shared on Facebook, saying:

“While we feel terrible for the circumstances, this is an unacceptable way to turn your pets into the shelter, especially when there are no open cages.”

Due to the full capacity, the shelter put out a desperate plea for foster homes for these two furry boys.

Fortunately, an organization called Scooby-Doo’s Rescue Mission immediately offered help. Christine Biggiani Bakelaar from SDRM rushed to BAS to pick up the dogs.

Christine instantly fell in love with Shadow and Tiger, but after reading their owner’s heartbreaking note, she discovered an unusual connection between them. She shared on Facebook

“OMG! I just re-read the letter written by the owner of the two dogs that Scooby-Doo’s Rescue picked up from The Bloomfield Animal Shelter, NJ, and their birthday is October 12… THAT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!! This was meant to be.”

Christine quickly found a loving foster home for the dogs, and in the meantime, the rescuers are trying to find their previous owner to learn more about the dogs’ medical history.

Desperate to ensure the dogs’ well-being, Christine posted a plea:

“If anyone on here sees this and knows the people, please have them reach out to me. No questions asked, other than I want to know more about them, and I truly want to let them know that their boys are OK. I promise never to separate them. I want them to visit them. Or at least allow me to send them updates. I can’t even imagine what this family is going through.”

Now, Shadow and Tiger are being well-cared for on a loving farm. They quickly adjusted to their new surroundings, but they’re still waiting to see what their future holds for them.

Hopefully, they’ll find a loving home where they can spend their golden years in comfort and happiness.
