Colorado Volunteers Help Reunite Military Family With Their Dog After Two Years Apart

Sharing is caring!

Have you ever experienced the pain of losing something really important? It could be a pet you love, a special item, or even a part of who you are.

The sadness that comes with loss can feel like too much to handle, and sometimes it feels like there’s no hope left. But imagine if, against all expectations, you found what you thought was gone forever.

Well, that’s what happened to Brandy Ross, a woman who was heartbroken after her dog, Bear, disappeared.

Bear went missing in 2022 when he escaped from a pet sitter in Colorado Springs. Even after many searches and posters, he was nowhere to be found, leaving his family in deep sorrow.

Brandy, Bear’s owner, had to move to New York for work soon after he went missing, which made things even harder.

Just when hope seemed lost, something incredible happened in July 2024. Colorado Springs Animal Law Enforcement spotted a dog that looked just like Bear.

A group of volunteers, known for helping find lost dogs, was quickly informed. So, they immediately jumped into action, setting up feeding stations and cameras to see if they could catch a glimpse of the possible Bear.

They also reached out to Brandy, letting her know about the sighting and encouraging her to get ready for a possible reunion.

After weeks of hard work, the volunteers luckily managed to trap the dog. When they scanned for a microchip, they were thrilled to find out it was Bear, the dog they had been searching for all along.

Brandy was deeply emotional when she got the news. As she shared in an interview:

“The whole night I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, is this my dog? It’s him.’ And I was like, ‘No way.’ And I was literally bawling my eyes out.”

The HSPPR team was also just as thrilled. They had worked really hard to find Bear, and his safe return showed how dedicated they were.

Now, when Bear came back to New York, his family was buzzing with excitement. They just couldn’t wait to hug their furry friend and give him all the love he deserves.

So, even when things get tough, amazing things can happen. Sometimes, all it takes is a little faith, a lot of hard work, and a community that comes together to make a change… It takes a village.
