Residents of this small village are used to elephants wandering near their homes. These majestic animals come close to villages often in search of food.
However, a landowner woke up one morning and was left baffled by the sound coming from his water well.
He rushed outside only to find an elephant who fell 30 feet down into an open well. The poor thing was almost completely submerged in water, with only his trunk gasping for air.
The man immediately called their wildlife rescue department, knowing they would be able to help.
In the meantime, the villagers gathered and tried feeding the poor elephant. They threw bananas inside the well, hoping the elephant would take it.
But the poor thing was exhausted, he only had energy left to lift his trunk and get some air.
Once the rescue organization came, they realized it would be a difficult rescue. They had to break down the concrete well and make a path so the elephant could climb up.
It was crucial to do everything as quickly as possible since they believed the elephant spent the entire night in the well.
They called a local construction company who were more than willing to help and lend one of their bulldozers.
The bulldozer came and immediately started making the path for the poor elephant. Carefully, he managed to break down one side of the concrete wall.
After almost two hours of non-stop digging, the elephant was finally able to reach the ground.
Slowly, he managed to climb up and then something amazing happened. Everyone thought that once he was out the poor thing would run to the forest immediately.
However, the elephant turned around and kept looking at everyone who was involved in his rescue.
After a few minutes, he turned around and made his way up into the forest. For a second, it looked like he was trying to say ‘thank you for rescuing me’.
