Dog Gets A Taste Of Feathered Fury When A Rooster Starts Chasing Her In The Backyard

Dog Gets A Taste Of Feathered Fury When A Rooster Starts Chasing Her In The Backyard

Sharing is caring!

A couple of nights ago, while scrolling through Instagram, I stumbled upon a video that brought tears to my eyes.

But these weren’t tears of sadness – they were from laughter! The video was so hilarious that I couldn’t stop laughing, and I even woke my partner, who usually sleeps as if his life depends on it.

Anyway, the video in question revolved around two very interesting stars – an adorable dog named Leia and a rooster named Duke. Here’s their story!

As an Australian Shepherd, sweet Leia is not only extremely intelligent but also good-natured, energetic, and playful.

She loves spending time outdoors, eagerly running around and playing with anyone willing to indulge her.

However, her owner, Tammy, never imagined Leia would choose a rooster as her favorite playmate.

Duke, the rooster, belongs to Tammy’s father. He is prideful and confident, often viewing himself as the boss of the estate.

But when Leia entered his life, her energetic spirit brought a bit of turmoil into his otherwise perfectly ordered life.

The weekend Tammy introduced Leia to Duke, she immediately started running around, eager to play.

Duke, having no other option, had to participate. Annoyed by Leia’s bubbly personality, he began running after her, resulting in a hilarious backyard chase that you simply can’t miss:

Recounting this hilarious memory in an interview, Tammy explained that Leia definitely wanted to be chased. She said:

“Every time he would stop for even just a second, she would go up behind him and nip him in the butt, like, ‘No, I’m not done playing!’”

Tammy was completely taken aback by Leia and Duke’s playful antics. What surprised her the most was that Duke, despite being so much smaller than Leia, still fiercely ‘fought’ back.

What he lacked in size, he definitely made up for in personality.

This video Tammy shared on her Instagram gained thousands of views and made many people genuinely happy.

Several commented that it was the best video they’d seen in a while, with one person noting how their playful chase reminded him of a cartoon.

Honestly, I think that’s a perfect way to describe Leia and Duke’s relationship, don’t you agree?

Perfect Frenemies

Leia and Duke continued their chasing games every time Tammy and her good girl visited her dad.

However, due to personal reasons, Tammy and Leia were unable to visit for over a month.

Tammy was concerned Leia might have forgotten Duke, but her furry friend quickly proved her wrong.

As soon as Leia got out of the car, she and Duke resumed their playful chase as if no time had passed.

From that moment, everyone knew: Chasing was definitely Leia and Duke’s thing!

Duke and Leia definitely make perfect frenemies. According to Tammy, Duke often acts as though he’s bigger and stronger than Leia, asserting his dominance.

Leia, on the other hand, just wants to make friends and is determined to befriend her favorite rooster.

Tammy believes there’s more to their relationship than meets the eye. She says:

“I really think there’s something between the two of them – really deep down in Duke, but right on the surface of Leia. I think he secretly enjoys it, because he does it for so long. He could go and get away from her if he really wanted to, but he doesn’t.”

I completely agree with Tammy. If Duke were truly annoyed with Leia, he wouldn’t engage in the chase and would instead use his wings to escape to a safe perch.

But since he doesn’t, it seems clear he actually enjoys his time with his canine friend.

What’s your take on their relationship? Please share your thoughts; I’m curious to see if we think alike!
