Abused Blind Elephant Spends Almost 50 Years Suffering In Captivity

It’s really sad to think about how animals suffer when they’re kept in captivity. They used to be wild and free, but being locked up can break their spirits.

Karma, a 46-year-old elephant, is a perfect example of this. For almost fifty years, she had to work hard, carrying heavy things through busy streets, living in a dark world.

And just when you think it couldn’t go worse than that, she became blind. Every day was just the same for her, filled with hard work and not enough to eat, and her spirit seemed to fade more and more as the years went by.

However, even in her darkest times, there was a bit of hope. A passionate group at Wildlife SOS, a safe haven for animals in need, reached out to help Karma.

Their strong dedication to caring for animals brought them to her, giving her a chance to start over.

When Karma got out of the truck and onto the sanctuary land, she started a fresh journey. Her careful first steps toward freedom were a huge difference from all the steps she had taken while being mistreated by people.

Even though Karma’s journey to recovery is a long one, her spirit is strong. The sanctuary team is giving her the care she needs, and is making sure she feels safe and loved.

They take her on gentle walks to explore, and provide medical attention for her past wounds. They are hopeful that with time and patience, Karma will be healthy again.
