5 Animals Who Can See The World In Ways That Will Make You Jealous

The human eye is quite the marvel, but compared to some animals? We’re practically blind to the wonders of the world!

Some animals possess eyesight that gives them views we can only imagine! Have you ever wondered what it’s like to see in almost complete darkness or spot colors invisible to us?

Well, come and find out more! Because these creatures have super-vision so extraordinary that it will make you see things differently (pun intended), too!

1. Mantis Shrimp

Do you know how many color-receptive cones humans have? Only 3! A mantis shrimp, meanwhile, has 16! They can see all kinds of wavelengths: ultraviolet, infrared, polarized light, you name it!

The coolest thing? This ability allows them to communicate in visual codes for locating prey! It’s a pretty neat little trick for a shrimp, isn’t it?

2. Bees

Being a bee is quite a fun ride. First, you see the world from a tiny flying insect perspective. Then, you manage to see it in the ultraviolet spectrum – a wavelength humans can’t see!

This kind of superpower helps them find flowers bursting with nectar. They often have ultraviolet markings – kind of like a landing strip for bees! Imagine flowers having neon signs or billboards that say “Food here!”

3. Owls

Owls own the night and their vision is their key to success! Their eyes got used to low-light conditions. But the best part? They’ve got incredible depth and distance perception!

The forward-facing eyes of an owl are like a binocular enhancer. Locking onto prey has never been easier, despite the near-total darkness! And I can’t find a slipper with the lights off, jeez!

4. Chameleons

Chameleons don’t see ultraviolet or infrared like the animals above. But you know what they can do? They can rotate their eyes independently! To me, that’s some expert-level surveillance skill, honestly!

Being able to look in two directions is pretty nifty! On one hand, you can check both sides for predators. On the other, you can check for a predator, while looking for food! Combine that with their camouflage, and you’ve got quite the secret agent.

5. Eagles

When it comes to seeing the world with jaw-dropping clarity, we know that eagles take the crown. Their eyesight is about 8 times sharper than a human’s (or more, if you don’t see very well like me)!

Rodents and fish fear these guys and for good reasons! Eagles can see a tiny mouse rustle a branch from over two miles away!
